Two Simple Training Tips to Set Your Puppy Up for Success

Bringing home a new puppy is exciting—but it can also feel a little overwhelming. The good news? A few small, consistent habits can make a big difference in helping your pup grow into a well-behaved, confident companion.

1. Keep Training Sessions Short & Fun

Puppies have short attention spans, so aim for 5–10 minute training sessions a few times a day. End on a win—whether that’s a successful “sit” or coming when called—and make sure your pup gets plenty of praise (and maybe a treat or two). The goal is for training to feel like a game, not a chore.

2. Practice in Different Environments

Once your puppy understands a cue at home, try practicing in new settings—like your backyard, a quiet park, or even during a walk. This helps your pup learn that “sit” means “sit” no matter where you are or what’s going on around them. It’s a great way to build reliability and focus, even with distractions.

With patience, consistency, and a positive approach, you’ll be setting your puppy up for a lifetime of good manners and happy tail wags.
